In miniature fluid control applications there are many prerequisites for system protection, not least the use of high-pressure safety screens offering simple installation and proven retention. It was these thoughts that spurred designers here at The Lee Company to create our latest range of HI-BAR insert-retained safety screens.
In developing HI-BAR we leveraged more than 70 years of experience to combine two existing innovations. Users of HI-BAR insert-retained safety screens can enjoy the performance advantages delivered by Lee’s unique drilling techniques, alongside the installation and retention benefits associated with our insert locking end. For decades, both technologies have been deployed widely in sectors such as aerospace, oil and gas, and motorsport.
For all the designers among you tasked with protecting critical components like valves, nozzles and orifices from contamination, HI-BAR is now our first-choice recommendation. In fact, the adoption of HI-BAR insert-retained safety screens will provide an additional level of protection for sub-system components such as pumps, flow dividers, gearboxes, actuators and control valves, delivering extra peace of mind.
Machined from solid stainless steel bar, the single-piece construction results in some of the highest strength screens available in the world today. To provide you with an indication of protection performance, there would be no burst or collapse at pressures up to 7500 psid, even in the unlikely event that the screen were to become fully clogged. HI-BAR, which can be used in either liquid or pneumatic systems, offers high contamination carrying capacity.
Of course, delivering rugged functionality under high pressure is one thing, but what about installation and retention? Well, it’s for this very reason that we use our proven high-pressure locking end. This innovation means the screen can be installed directly into a fluid passageway, simply locking into the surrounding housing and providing a reliable, leak-proof seal. HI-BAR can also be installed into fittings to provide an in-line screening solution, if required.
Offering low-Lohm, high-flow capability, we’ve made our HI-BAR range available in four different body diameters: 0.187" (4.75mm), 0.250" (6.35mm), 0.375" (9.53mm), and 0.500" (12.70mm). Standard screen hole sizes include 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 250, 380 and 500 microns. We would also like to point out that special designs, such as alternate materials, hole sizes and dimensional envelopes, are available upon request.
